billing accounts let you review and manage patient and guarantor balances in one place each billing account shows all financial activity related to a client, including charges, invoices, payments, insurance claims, and account history accessing billing accounts to view billing accounts go to billing โ accounts youโll see a list of all patient and guarantor billing accounts with their current balances from the billing overview page, you can also access billing accounts using quick actions โ billing accounts billing accounts list the accounts list shows all billing accounts in your practice for each account, youโll see account name (client name and account id) type (patient or guarantor) status (active or inactive) billing status (open or closed) service period current balance you can use search and filters to narrow accounts by status or balance opening a billing account click any account to open its detailed view this page shows the full financial history for that client at the top of the account, youโll see current balance account status billing status you can also take quick actions such as post payment post debit create invoice generate a statement pdf send a statement account overview tab the overview tab gives a summary of the accountโs financial state live statement this section shows total charges total payments outstanding balance this reflects the real time balance of the account, based on all posted activity latest invoice if invoices have been issued, the most recent invoice appears here if no invoices exist yet, youโll see a โno invoices issued yetโ message invoices tab the invoices tab shows all invoices created for this billing account here you can review issued invoices track invoice status confirm whether charges have been invoiced if no invoices exist, eggmed will indicate that no invoices have been issued yet payments tab the payments tab lists all payments posted to this account, including insurance payments patient payments payment method (cash, check, ach, etc ) amount application status (applied or unapplied) unapplied payments remain visible until they are allocated to charges or invoices debits tab the debits tab shows charges and adjustments posted to the account debits typically come from billable service lines manual adjustments or corrections if no debits have been posted yet, the tab will indicate that no debits are available claims tab the claims tab displays insurance claims associated with this billing account you can use this tab to track submitted insurance claims confirm whether claims exist for specific services claims will appear here once they are created and submitted for the patient service lines tab the service lines tab shows individual charge items created from encounters for each service line, youโll see service name date of service status (e g billable) charge amount paid amount remaining balance associated claim (if any) service lines are the foundation for billing, invoicing, and insurance claims ledger tab the ledger tab provides a chronological view of all financial activity on the account this includes charges payments adjustments each entry shows transaction type amount impact on the account balance date and time the ledger is useful for audits and understanding exactly how a balance was calculated documents tab the documents tab gives access to billing related documents for the account, including good faith estimates (gfes) superbills you can view and download these documents as needed for patient records or insurance submission
