the eligibility section in billing settings lets you control how and when insurance eligibility checks are run for your organization these checks help verify a patientโs insurance coverage before their appointment w here to find eligibility settings go to settings from the sidebar select billing open the eligibility tab a utomatic eligibility checks automatic eligibility checks run in the background before scheduled appointments to confirm patient coverage e nabling or disabling automatic checks use the check timing dropdown to choose when eligibility checks should run disabled automatic eligibility checks will not run 24 hours before checks run 24 hours before the appointment 48 hours before checks run 48 hours before the appointment 72 hours before checks run 72 hours before the appointment your selected timing is saved automatically and applies to all future appointments h ow automatic eligibility checks work when automatic checks are enabled eligibility checks run in the background for upcoming appointments results appear on the appointment details and check in screens you can still run eligibility checks manually at any time from the patientโs coverage tab if a patient has multiple coverages, the check uses the primary coverage automatic checks help identify coverage issues early, before the appointment takes place w hen to adjust eligibility timing you may want to change the timing based on your workflow run checks earlier to allow time for follow up with patients run checks closer to the appointment for more up to date coverage details disable automatic checks if your practice prefers fully manual verification important notes eligibility checks do not change billing outcomes automatically they are informational and meant to support scheduling, billing, and check in workflows coverage accuracy depends on the information entered in the patientโs insurance profile
