How to add insurance to a client profile

use copays to collect the patientโs portion of a visit while the remaining balance is billed to insurance b efore you start before adding insurance to a client, make sure that the insurance payer is already set up in your organization (settings โ billing โ payer setup) you have the clientโs insurance details, such as member id group number (if applicable) plan type subscriber information insurance card images (optional) if a payer is not configured, it will not appear when adding coverage w here insurance is added insurance is added from the client profile , under the coverage tab path go to clients open the clientโs profile click the coverage tab this tab is dedicated to managing insurance coverage for the client h ow to add insurance coverage in the coverage tab, click add coverage in the add coverage panel, enter the insurance details insurance card (optional) upload front and back images of the insurance card payer select the insurance payer from the list member id group number and plan name (if applicable) plan type effective start and effective end dates (if applicable) primary coverage check this if this is the clientโs primary insurance subscriber information select the relationship (self or other) if the subscriber is not the client, enter subscriber details click add coverage the insurance coverage is now linked to the client profile w hat happens after insurance is added once coverage is added the client is linked to the selected insurance payer invoices can reflect insurance responsibility copays can be recorded as patient payments insurance claims can be created for eligible services adding coverage does not automatically submit a claim i mportant things to know a client can have multiple coverage records (for example, primary and secondary insurance) adding insurance does not update existing invoices automatically coverage can be edited or removed at any time from the coverage tab insurance billing depends on correct payer setup at the organization level c ommon mistakes to avoid looking for insurance in the overview tab insurance is managed only in the coverage tab not setting up the payer first the payer must exist before it can be selected entering incorrect member or subscriber details this may cause claim rejections later
